First try clicking the Configuration Wizard button in Akeeba Backup's Control Panel page. If the wizard hangs after the database step, try reloading the page. Try taking a new backup.

If that fails, please follow all the self-help troubleshooting steps outlined in the Backup Now documentation page. Please do not skip any steps, they are what is actually required in 99% of trouble cases.

If that still doesn't work out, please ZIP and attach the new back-end backup log file with your next post so that I can see what is going on.

You get a consistent 500 Internal Server Error when the backup reaches a specific point. This means one thing and one thing only: you are running out of free disk space. Many hosts claim to give you more space than they really allocate to you. Even worse, I've seen hosts claiming that you have 99Gb free space and you really have 0 bytes because they only allocated 1Gb out of 100 advertised. Please check this with your host.

If all else fails, please send me the URL and Super Administrator login details to your site by means of a direct Personal Message. I am user "nicholas". This will allow me to debug this issue directly on your server.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please include a link back to this post, otherwise it's impossible for me to know why you're sending me the PM.

Thank you for the PM! It turns out that the default setting in Akeeba Backup was to post-process each archive part directly after creating it. However, there was a bug which didn't allow the component to perform that post-processing correctly. As a result, as soon as it tried to upload the backup parts to DropBox, it crashed.

I have temporarily disabled post-processing directly after each archive part's creation on your site. I believe that you now see the backup arriving in your DropBox directory. The stable version, scheduled for this week, will solve this issue.

You're welcome! As always, if you report a bug and help me reproduce it I can squash it very quickly :)
