Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Read all
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 1.52
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.89
Host: Bluehost
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:
I took a site backup and had no issues - worked great as always. Reloaded it to a new site without issue.

The problem comes when I log into either the backend or front end - I am redirected to the old site.

I have reset the configuration.php to the right live_Site name and there is no reference in the .htaccess to the other site.

Let me know your suggestions and ideas - we are trying to move the site over the next 2-3 days.

Hi!

I think that you have accidentally used the same database for both sites, as descried in this troubleshooting page.

If this doesn't help, please check if you have any third party software (component, module, plugin or template) which stores absolute URLs. My money would be on a plugin with a stored absolute URL to your old site, firing upon login. If you have a forum or e-commerce application bridge this is certainly the case.

If all else fails, you can send me a Personal Message with the URL to the site, Super Administrator log in information and FTP connection information so that I can take a look.

Thanks for the kind offers Nicholas.

I believe the issue is a redirecting Component or Plugin. I reloaded the site and will be sending you a PM with access.

Appreciate your help with this - our move to a new platform is off for now.

I am really impressed with your follow up - thank you!

Hi! Thank you for the PM.

I assume that the site you pointed me to is the source site, i.e. the site you are backing up from?

After looking through all of the software you have installed, I can't see anything which could produce a redirection. The only think I see is the live_site parameter in configuration.php. In fact, this is what is causing a redirection when you log in to the site.

If changing the live_site doesn't work on the new site, please give me the URL, Super Admin login and FTP info for the new site so that I can take a look myself.

Note: If you are using Google Chrome and forgot to change the live_site parameter in configuration.php during restoration (you did that manually after having tried to log in to the site), please note that you will see no effect after the manual change. Google Chrome "remembers" redirections. The only workaround is to clear your browser cache, shut it down (on a Mac you have to hit CMD-Q, on other Operating Systems it's sufficient to close all windows) and restart the browser.
