Hi!

If you don't update Akeeba Backup, it makes sense to get a notification email every day. That's how this feature is supposed to work.

Regarding your issue, it seems that your server is not able to download the update files from the server. In this case, you can simply download the ZIP installation archive from https://www.AkeebaBackup.com/latest and install it using Extensions, Install/Uninstall without uninstalling your existing version. This will allow you to upgrade the software very easily, without going through Live Update.

After upgrading the software, you should stop receiving update notification emails.
