What you describe is simply impossible. You are probably doing something wrong without realizing it.

First, consider the date and time of the backup. Is this really the latest backup? Did any changes occur between the time of the backup and the time you are restoring it? If yes, these changes were simply not present in the backup and can, of course, not be restored.

Second, make sure that you are indeed restoring the backup archive from today. If there is an older backup archive in your site's root, the default backup archive proposed by Kickstart is the old one. So, launch Kickstart and take a look at the backup archive's name in the drop-down. If it is not what you expect, click on the drop-down and select the correct backup archive.

Finally, make sure that you are restoring to the correct domain and the correct database. It's easy to accidentally restore to a subdomain instead of the main site -or vice versa- and wonder what is going wrong.

No problem :D You'd be surprised at how many times every day I curse at myself for missing something obvious. In the end of the day, we're still human ;)
