After pressing backup now, the progress screen stays as it is, none of the actions seems to start.

I have attached the back-end log.

Hi!

Your back-end log file didn't come through :( Please note that we have some limitations regarding the attachments. It's best to put the log file inside a ZIP archive first, then attach the ZIP archive here. If the archive is over 2Mb, please upload it to a free file hosting service (DropBox or Windows Live SkyDrive highly recommended) and post a link to the file here. Thank you!

Yes, the file was added now, thank you.

According to the log file, something seems to have crashed while Akeeba Backup was trying to save its temporary information to disk.

First, check the backup output and temporary directory locations. If unsure, go to Akeeba Backup's configuration page and in both output and temporary directory edit boxes please enter [DEFAULT_OUTPUT] (all caps, including the brackets).

Then, check that these directories are writable. If you followed the previous step, you can use your FTP application to find the directory administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup and set its permissions to 0777. Note: despite the very broad permissions, there is no security risk as there is a secure .htaccess inside that directory.

You must also make sure that you have adequate disk space to complete the backup. If you're running very tight on disk space, please try removing older backups - after having downloaded them to your local PC for safekeeping, of course.

If none of the above works, please go to Akeeba Backup's Configuration page and check the "Use database storage for temporary data" checkbox. This will instruct Akeeba Backup to use the database, instead of files in the temporary directory, to store its temporary information between backup steps. On the majority of hosts, this method tends to be much more reliable.

If nothing works, please post back so that we can further assist you. Thank you!
