Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the forum before posting? No
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 1.5.23
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: claranet soho
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.3

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

I had successfully used akeeba to move my website from locally to a subdomain. Now I want to move it to its final destination. I have run into an error and cannot upload it. It halted with the upload of an image file. I have attached the error log. Please can you tell me what to do. The site is my established business and I do not want to be without it for long.
Many thanks

First, check that you have enough available disk space. Since your dev site is inside a subdirectory of your main site, you need to have at least twice as much disk space as your dev site currently occupies (+ the size of the database dump) to be able to perform the move.

If you do have plenty of disk space, it is possible that your host doesn't like Akeeba Backup uploading multiple files by FTP. In this case you can follow a workaround. Instead of using the Site Transfer Wizard, take a normal backup of your dev site (in an archive file). Move the archive file to your main site's root and upload kickstart.php in it, then access Kickstart as http://www.yoursite.com/kickstart.php and follow the on-screen instructions to get the restoration rolling.

If, when using Kickstart, you get an error about unwrittable files, please use Kickstart's FTP mode by following our step by step instructions.

Well, if you get stuck somewhere, please post back with your problem so that I can help you!

Hi Nicolas
Thanks for the help.
I am going around in circles here.
I called my host and they said I had plenty of room. They asked what I was trying to do, so I told them. Without asking, they just moved all my files from one directory to another, which meant I lost my new and my old site!!. Luckily they had a back up from early this morning, and I am now back to square 1, other than having lost a few hours work.
Now, I am still having problems. I have used the back up, and started the transfer wizard. I am now getting a message that tells me I have something set wrong.I do not know how to correct it. I am attaching a screen shot. I am also confused as to why this has happened, when I managed to use akeeba from local to a sub-domain?
Thanks once again.

Hi Sarah,

That's a warning not an error. As you see, the error reporting is a recommended setting, not a required setting. You can proceed with the restoration as it is right now :)

Well thank you very much!
My site is now up and running. However I do have one more BIG problem! I can no longer login to the back end! I am not sure how, but somewhere in the process I must have overwritten the login settings. Would they be my server settings now? I have tried a few things with no joy :-(

Ah, darn, the browser's auto-complete kicked in during restoration and overwrote your Super Administrator password :( Unfortunately, we'll have to go through the scenic route, i.e. through the database. Don't worry! There are these instructions or these instructions and you should be back in business in no time.

I am really sorry, but I am in a terrible mess now.
After I sent the last message I went to the login page again, and I was in the backend! So I went to upload an image to an article and got the attached.
Now, just to confuse matters, I click preview, and my old site appears. I had left it on the server as I was anxious about deleting it. It is very strange as I did see the new site. I guess they are both there.
I really need help, and would be prepared to pay someone if necessary.
My site that I backed up with Akeba, and transferred is at http://new.allyoucanbear.com
The desitation I backed up to is www.allyoucanbear.com.
I am still logged into joomla at www.allyoucanbear.com/administrator, but the preview shows the old site (not a Joomla site)
I suspect there are some permissions issues, but this looks a lot more complicated

user44536
Just to say, I have managed to get rid of the old site. However, I think I might have deleted the folder where Joomla stores all the images as I see the image from the home page is no longer on my site. I will have a look shortly and see if I can dowload the folder from the subdomain and load it to the new one?

user44536
Thank you for your support. I am almost all OK now.
I have one last problem. I am unable to upload images to my media folder (stories) I have made the permissions on it and the images folder 777, but it is not working.
If I add a product to my shop, i can add images as they are stored in another folder.
Can you help me resolve this?
Many thanks

Go to Site, Global Configuration, click on the Server tab, set Enable FTP to No and you should be OK :)

Perhaps this is not the right place to ask, so if that it is the case, maybe you can point me in the right direction.
I just installed a component Jcrawler, and tried to generate a site map. It came up with a load of 500 errors. I gather it means there is a problem with the server? I have spent a lot of time adding meta descriptions to everything, and I want google etc. to be able to pick up on them. I dont want to submit this map to them. Have you any idea where I might look to sort this?
I am going to see if the same thing happens on the sub domain site. If it is different I will let you know (as it is where I backed up from)

The 500 errors mean that the URL is not working due to a system error. Can you try accessing those URLs from a browser? Do they throw a 500 error?

Yes, If I look at the site map they are all OK. I just tried validating it here
http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv?docAddrs=http%3A%2F%2Fnew.allyoucanbear.com%2F%2Fsitemap.xml&warnings=on&style=xsl

and I think it was fine.
Perhaps I should not worry?
I do not like to see loads of errors though.

Well, I meant the URLs inside http://new.allyoucanbear.com/sitemap.xml, not the sitemap itself. A random sample of URLs in the XML file which were throwing a 500 error in JCrawler shows no problems, so I guess it's safe to assume that you won't have any issues if you submit the site map to Google and other search engines.

Sorry, THat was for the subdomain. I think I might as well take that down as it is causing confusion.
I get the following for the real site
XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv?docAddrs=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.allyoucanbear.com%2F%2Fsitemap.xml&warnings=on&style=xsl
Line Number 1, Column 1:
^

I am not sure how this has happened as I have not really done anything since moving it.
Where can I find this file?

Thanks again.

When I visit http://www.allyoucanbear.com/sitemap.xml I can see your sitemap generated normally. I can also see that all URLs work properly. Visiting the http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv?docAddrs=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.allyoucanbear.com%2F%2Fsitemap.xml&warnings=on&style=xsl URL also loads properly. I am not sure I can understand what the problem is. If you get the error message you reported inside JCrawler, you might want to contact its developer.

THanks again.
I have just validated it at www.w3schools.com and it passed, so that is good enough for me.
I will contact the developer anyway as it might be a bug.

Kind regards
