Is it possible to extract the mySql database from a full backup .JPA-file

My full backup cant be restored due to writing permissions of a webalizer folder on my site. I just need to restore the database, nothing else really.

Thanks

Hello Jan,

What you ask for is the scenic route. It's steps 2-4 of the emergency manual restoration.

Instead, do something simple:
- Download your backup archive
- Extract it locally with Akeeba eXtract Wizard (it's a free download!)
- Remove the webalizer folder and any other folder you don't want to restore.
- ZIP it up (if you're using 7-ZIP, WinZIP, PKZIP, WinRAR or anything in the like please use "normal" compression)
- Upload the ZIP file to your site and use kickstart.php to restore it

Moreover, in order to avoid having the same problem, once you restore your site please use the "Files and directories exclusion" feature in Akeeba Backup to exclude Webalizer's directory and any other files/directories which might be set read-only by your host.

Well, I ended up doing something like that.

I installed the backup on my localhost on my Mac, then exported the mySQL tables that I changed after the backup and updated the database on my public site. So problem is solved.

I did change the settings in the Exclusion for the Webalizer too, so now everything is settled.

Thanks
