Backups are essentially snapshots of your time frozen in time. The version of the compoonent you intall after they are taken is irrelevant. It does not modify existing backups. The ability to extract a backup only dedpends on the backup, how you download/upload it and how you extract it. The backup component is not part of this process. So, no, upgrading Akeeba Backup will not break your existing backups; it will not touch them at all.

Why I do not understand is how that relates to the ticket's title?

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks a lot.
Yes, you are right. The title does not relate to the question. This is because I firts wrote the title, but a minute later, I decided to download the Prof version and find by myself how to extract a directory, and forgot to change the title .. sorry about that.
Thanks again and best regards
