I want to move my Joomla site from a Linux Server to a Windows Server. Can I just create the backup, then use kickstart to restore the backup onto the new windows server? Or will there be problems?

Hi Dave,

You can just back up your site from one server and restore it to the other server. Please note that as happens with all site transfers, no matter the platform the servers are running on, there might be incompatibilities like .htaccess directives not supported on the new server, hardcoded URLs/paths in some extensions and PHP version differences. If you bump into a proble, take a look in the Troubleshooting documentation section on this site. We have several post-restoration troubleshooting articles with all the necessary information to work around such problems.
