Mandatory information about my setup:

Joomla! version: 2.5
PHP version: 5.3
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)Korax (Toronto)
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: 3.5.2
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: 3.5.2

Description of my issue:
We are trying to migrate our site from Joomla 1.5 to 2.5. We backed up our 1.5 site, downloaded the jpa and restored it to a local installation using kickstart. This worked fine. We migrated the site to 2.5, modified it as required and we now want to restore it back to our remote host. We backed it up locally and uploaded the jpa file to the site. We renamed our root directory for our site and created a new one. In it we put the jpa file and the kickstart.php file and the other files from the kickstart.zip. When we try to run kickstart from our browsers (http://our_site/kickstart.php we get an error that it cannot find /cgi-bin/php/kickstart.php. We tried creating a kicktemp directory with 777 permissions. Also tried creating a /cgi-bin/php directory.

We would like to be able to restore our 2.5 site using akeeba. Any recommendations.
Thanks,
Geoff Daw

Hello Geoff,

The error you are seeing comes from the web server, long before it starts parsing PHP, let alone run any of my code. You have to ask your host for assistance. This looks like a domain configuration issue.
