Joomla! version: 2.5.7
PHP version: 5.3.17
MySQL version: 5.5.22
Host: byte.nl
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: I think com_akeeba-3.6.8-pro
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: kickstart-core-3.6.0

Description of my issue:
I could not get a connection with the database when using Kickstart. I used a password with 16 characters. Could this be a problem? Or is it the hosting company who has a delay, because I just generate the password.

Because I want to instal my Joomla site, I switched to another database-user with a 8 character password. This worked directly.

My question: is 16 character password to long for Kickstart?

There is no maximum password length restriction. However, some characters (like the dollar sign) can cause a problem. I would recommend using a 20 character password consisting of a-z, A-Z, 0-9 dashes and underscores. Under the current technology it would take a government with ample resources several hundred millions of years to break in theory. In practice it would take 100x-1000x longer.
