Description of my issue:

Hi

I use a differant domain name as my backup site

dalianxpat.org is the main site and dalianxpat.info is the back up, both are on the same server and use the same domain settings.

the ORG got hacked and now it has errors that I can not clear the INFO site is working fine but maybe the data tables are a day or so behind.

the only differance shoud be the configuration file, so can i use a backup from INFO to upload over ORG and then updata the data via the cpanels ??

Cheers

James

Even though you can, please be advised that requires manual work and will most likely lead to your main site being broken. I can tell you how I would do it:
  • Create. new backup profile on the info site. Set the backup mode to files only, exclude the configuration.php file in your site's root using the Files and Directories Exclusion and take a backup.
  • Restore that backup on the org site after removing all files and folders from the org site (you don't want to leave behind a backdoor file!). Please note that you only have to extract the archive. You will NOT run the Akeeba Backup Installer (restoration script). After the extraction of the files simply remove the installation directory, if present.
  • If you have any problems take a new full site backup of the info site and restore it on the org site.
