Description of my issue:

A couple of months ago I submitted the ticked #11698 with the same title and this issue:

After taking a multipart backup using jps archive, makes akeeba kickstart unable to extract the data.

The problem I was facing was not related with the component but with my server configuration. I was trying to restore a jps file in my localhost with an OpenSuSE LAMP installation out of the box.

I have found the solution to the issue. I needed to install the php mcrypt extension (from YaST package manager) to make the restoration process work.

After this, it worked like a charm.

I hope this helps future users ;)

Yes, that seems perfectly normal. I've had the same issues with an old version of XAMPP.
