Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes - solution to ticket 15446
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 3.0.3
PHP version: 5.3.4
MySQL version: 5.1.68-cll
Host: Linux VPS
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: 3.7.3 core
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: 3.6.0 core

Description of my issue:

Like poster for #15446 was met with "Error: Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error". Traced this to the backup engine not writing the database variables to configuration.php. Missing were host, user, password and table prefix.

Also, on route to getting the restoration done were 2 fatal errors due to repeated variables in installation/angie/models/jconfig/j30.php (public $display_offline_message = '1'; public $offline_image = ''; are repeated)

Thought it might help to let you know. All went well apart from those hiccoughs.
