Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Looked but found nothing relevant.
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes; most of the setup instructions.
Joomla! version: 1.5.26
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.96-community
Host: HostGator.
Akeeba Backup version which took the backup: Akeeba Backup Core3.3.10
Kickstart version used to extract the backup: Not used: .sql saved.

Description of my issue: I have a db backup made from an export through phpMyAdmin where I can see articles and such encoded correctly (in particular right single quote ', quotes ", and registered trademark). However, a backup of the db restored from an Akeeba backup changes the encoding where I am seeing characters like ‘ and ’ for the quotes. Any ideas why this might be happening and what I can do about it?

Thanks!

Akeeba Backup Core 3.3.10 is not supported ages ago. I cannot offer any assistance for it. The last version for Joomla! 1.5 is 3.4.3 and had fixed numerous bugs since 3.3.10.
