Hi,

I want to restore a Joomla 2.5 site under a Joomla 1.5 install (with import backup). Is this possible?

Best,

Tim,

This is not recommended. The restore operation will overwrite your existing site, so only the J! 2.5 site will exist when you are finished. The problem is files that existed in J! 1.5 that do not exist in J! 2.5 are "orphaned," not deleted or overwritten, just abandoned. Many files are moved, so they belong somewhere else and may cause your site to malfunction.

For this particular scenario, you are better off deleting the existing 1.5 files and manually clearing the database, then restore the 2.5 backup to the "bare" site.
