Nicholas,

I get this error when I want to restore a site:

SQL=CREATE DATABASE `bladerpd_db` CHARACTER SET `utf8`

The database is still made by me. Why does Kickstart want to ake a new one?

Kickstart DOES NOT create databases. Kickstart ONLY extracts the backup archive. This is very clearly explained in the popup which appears whenever you run Kickstart. Take 2 minutes to read it please. Right now I have no idea what you are using and I can't help you.

Go to the database restoration page. At the top of the page, in huge, bold letters it reads either "Akeeba Backup Installer" or "ANGIE - Akeeba Next Generation Installer Engine". That's what is performing the database restoration. I would like you to tell me which one of the two it is and its version.

Hi Nicholas,

It's ANGIE – Akeeba Next Generation Installer Engine v.3.9.1

Thank you, Jan! Now I know what you are seeing and why. ANGIE first tries to connect to your database using the database connection information you have provided. If it cannot find the database it tries to create it, just in case this is possible.

So, you are receiving this error because the database connection information is incorrect. If you are not sure what is the correct database connection information for the server you are restoring to, please contact your host.
