 Dear Madams and Sirs,

I got massive troubles using Akeeba Kickstart.

The first error is, that your versions 3.7.1 (pro and core) cannot extracted, because the files are damaged – so I have to use 3.7.0

The second and most important error will occure, when I use Akeeba Kickstart to extract a Yootheme Template.

!!! ALL index.html, index.php and some others are not files, but symbolic links. In a typical installation there are about hundreds of those links instead of index-files, so any installation, update etc. will fail. The only solution for me is to download the whole joomla directory on my hard disk drive, renaming the root directory and upload the downloaded files again. In this case the links were not uploaded, but any directory have no index.html/.php starting page after this procedure. I got this error „environment“ since x installations, so I will not use Kickstart anymore, until there is a solution to solve this time-consuming process. I am amazed, that there is no documentation or user report for this problem, except me.

Can you help?

Sincerely
Martin

Martin,

I was able to download and extract both the Pro and Core versions of Kickstart 3.7.1. All I can suggest is that you try your download again.

Regarding the symlinks, I think the problem is in the Backup Configuration, not in Kickstart. Please check under Configuration, Advanced Configuration, Archiver Engine and make sure the Dereference symlinks checkbox is checked.
