moving a site from one server to another (within a 1and1 account) With Kickstart 4.0.0 (renamed to restore.php), a backup file, query.min.js and json2.min.js in the otherwise blank root folder, I run the php.
Angie runs, the expected screen shows up, the file extracts, the database restores, the screen tells me to delete the install files...
I use the kickstart "Cleanup" page... it offers to take me to my front page or the back end... when I click either, the result is: "No input file specified."

I have used Akeeba dozens of times to clone sites... I am confident in the workflow. I have restored many at 1and1, siteground, rochen... this one has me stumped. (note... This is my first site where I purchased Akeeba Pro)

I read in your replies that it is a host issue... I have even had other joomla sites on this same shared server.

Any suggestion (even on how to chase this) would be much appreciated.

Are the files really there? Do you have the backup log where this backup was created? The extraction had to be at least partially successful, the /installation folder was extracted. The configuration.php file probably extracted because you would have noticed if none of the defaults were restored.

If the files are really there, try calling the site with index.php in the url, mysite.com/index.php.

I have tried twice to reply... So excuse me if this is #3... My browser seems to hang with the attachments so this one I will not attach files.

1. Yes... The files are all there. Examining with Filezilla... all files present. Opening up key files like index.php or configuration.php - look normal and the info I see there seems to be correct. Accessing the url/index.php creates the same results of course.
so....
2. I created a new backup and downloaded the log (I will attach to another reply so that this one gets through for certain)... I cleared the root folder on the target restore site. Again, files extract as expected... Database restores as expected... install files clean up as expected... all files are present when checked.... index.php and configuration.php look normal... and when I run the site... Same result.
"No input file specified."
I am really stumped on this one.
I will try to restore the backup to another root on the source server and then ANOTHER joomla site we manage to the destination server as tests. Any direction you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks
Theo

The log file is attached.

Theo,

I'm sorry you had trouble uploading the log. There is a file size limit and usually the log file needs to be zipped. The log confirms what you're saying, the files are there.
  1. Try www.mysite.com/index.php
  2. If there is an .htaccess file present, rename it to eliminate it as a cause
  3. Is this site in the root of the account, or in a subfolder of another site

Dale:
Good suggestion.
I renamed the .htaccess file to a .txt to eliminate it... no avail.

Confirming that the URL is pointing to root:
The way 1and1 works as a hosting company, is:
1. They created their own admin and do not use cPanel... but their proprietary system (thought slow) is typically very solid and provides all the same functions - with the exception of how they handle domains.
In their domain settings, you point the domain to a destination folder. That folder becomes root for that domain.
You can host any number of domains, each pointing to its own folder.
Because of your comment, I put a simple helloworld.html file at the root as a test, and have confirmed that the DNS is pointing to that root... That file return a Hello World!

2. This sort of leaves an issue with php... I will investigate...
I put a helloworld.php file at root and IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM...
a quick hunt for a php.ini file... renamed.... and
Hoozah! It was a php.ini file at the root that was diverting everything to nowhere.

Thank you Dale... your questions alone help guide a good answer. Hopefully useful for others
