 Hi,
I downloaded a backup of my live site to my xampp installation on my PC. (first stage in the process of updating from 2.5 to 3.3).
I used Kickstart to install the site and all went well. I then made some changes as recommended in the conversion schedule, checked the site and took a further backup. (This time of course on my local machine.)
After attempting to update to Joomla 3 (it failed!), I tried to use the backup to restore my site to the 2.5.28 version I had before trying the upgrade.

On viewing the Admin back-end I get the error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method JAdministrator::setHeader() in C:\xampp\htdocs\coastal-parishes\libraries\cms\html\behavior.php on line 712

I am able to view the front end OK. I have not yet tried to restore from the earlier backup I downloaded from the live site.

Any idea what might be going on?

But you did so without first removing all of the files and folders of your upgraded to Joomla! 3 site. And that's your problem. As we've written in our docs and hundreds of tickets (this is already the 3rd ticket in 24 hours I personally reply to with the same advice): never, ever, try to restore a backup of one Joomla! version family on top of an existing site of a different Joomla! version family (e.g. 2.5 on 3.x or 3.x on top of 2.5 or even 3.x on top of 3.y e.g. 3.3 on top of 3.2 or vice versa); always delete all files and folders before restoring a backup containing a different Joomla! version.
