 Hi,
i need to do some test on my site so i decided to make a clone on another test domain with different server. On the test domain i had another test site that i don't need anymore.
I used the site transfer wizard.
Akeeba has transfered my site to the test domain server, fine!
Then, in the second domain, it started the ANGIE – Akeeba Next Generation Installer Engine v.4.1.2.
The first step is ok.
i am stopped on the second step: database restoration.
I have always this error message: Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL.
Here eludes me something.
I don't know anymore what i have to write like access credentials.
I tryed with the access i have on my real site, but it does not work.
i tryed with the access i have for the old database of the site i don't need anymore and i does not work.
Where i was wrong?

The Akeeba installer does not modify the database access settings in any way. The database must be set up prior to starting your restore process.

Please double check all of your database access settings, database name, database user name, password. Most MySQL installations use "localhost" as the address, but not all. Some require 127.0.0.1 or an actual IP address. It depends on what host you use. If any of that connection information is incorrect, you would get the "can't connect" message during the restore.

Hi,
thanks for your answer and help.
On my test host i can create only one database.
So, if i understood well, i have to delete the old no longer used database.
Then i have to create a brand new one that does not have obligatorily the same access of the data base of the site i have to clone.
Could you confirm this please?
Or if i understood bad could you explain again please?
Thanks a lot for your patience.
Best regards

dlb
You can reuse the database as long as you know the connection details for it. My preference is to drop the tables before I restore a new site and delete all of the files. In most cases you do not have to, but I like to keep it nice and neat.

When you are restoring over an old site, you can not restore a Joomla! 3.x site over a Joomla! 2.x site. You can't overwrite a different Joomla! series. Sometimes files are in different folders and don't overwrite properly.
