 Hello

I'm trying to get my last page to Joomla 3.x. Doing so I did a backup from my 2.5.28 page and try to restore on a local server using kickstart. The extraction runs to almost the very end, I would say 95% or more and the nothing happens anymore. Waited for half an hour but nothing. No error message nothing. It shows the path to a file, that's it. Excluded that very file from the backup tried again, it then hangs somewhere else. Looking at the restored files it seems to me that all files are there. I just don't get to the db restore.
Doing a restore a couple months ago on this very server worked fine.

I have an older development version on my local server. Did a backup on my local server and analyzed the backup with Angie. It tells me that there are too many tables and two files are too big. Excluded these things from the live site. Running Angie on the last backup from the live site gets stuck at the database permissions (600 seconds no answer).

Is there another spot to look for log files? I didn't install the very last version of Akeeba backup, because it told me that it wasn't for Joomla 2.5 anymore.

Can I do what kickstart does manually? Using extract, copy the files and restore the database?

Any advice would be very welcome. I don't want to test the Joomla update on the live site.

Thanks

Roger

Roger,

Kickstart does not install, it just extracts your archive. When the extraction if finished, kickstart hands off control to the installer script, which is stored inside your backup archive.

You can simply visit the site on the local server and you will be redirected to the installer script. This assumes that everything was successfully extracted from the archive. That assumption makes me nervous.

Another option for extracting the archive is to download the Akeeba eXtract Wizard 3.3 from our Downloads page, all the way at the bottom. It is a stand alone extractor for jpa archives. I would feel better if you tried that to see if it can extract the archive or give you an error message.

You are correct, the most recent versions of Akeeba products no longer support the Joomla! 2.5 series.

Thank you very much. Using the link was the trick. With that I was able to restore the whole site.

Cheers
