 Good Morning,

Firstly, sorry if this has been answered.

I wondered if you could help me. I will be updating Joomla on our live websites from version 2.5 to 3.X. But unfortunately the current servers we use are not up to standard as they do not meet the PHP requirements for Joomla 3. So I thought about using Akeeba Backup & Kickstart. But because the current server is only PHP 5.2, I will need to use an older version of Akeeba Backup for this one occasion. And I just wondered if I had to also use an older version of Kickstart as well or if the latest version would still work? Plus will there will be any issues using that you could think of?

Kind Regards

Dale

Hello Dale,

you can find the correct version for your server here, you will need version 3.4.6
You can backup your site and then restore it in the new location, you don't need to use an old version of Kickstart. After that, you can update to the latest version of Akeeba Backup (it works in Joomla 2.5, too) and then update the whole Joomla system.
