I have uploaded a new Joomla 4 quick start package to an empty website folder.   The package, purchased from Joomshaper, contains their template: "rythm" and is set up using the builder component "SP Page Builder Pro".

After successfully loading the site I proceeded to immediately load Akeeba Backup Pro 9.2.7 Akeeba Admin Tools Pro 7.1.9.  I installed both but did not configure Admin Tools due to concerns about the security being over protective at such an early stage in development.  I did then perform one backup.

After noticing the warning on the need to update PHP from V7 to V8 proceeded to go back and do that in cPanel.  Doing so broke the site and a session with inMotion tech support revealed that they had not installed PHP V8 on my server.  After that was done I had not trouble updating my two other websites to V8 but selecting either V8 or V8.1 in cPanel for carlislechamberorch.org still results in an "error 500" response.  Inmotion support concluded that there must be an incompatibility in the site software.

I have a ticket in to Joomshaper regarding the complatibility of their rythm template and SP Page Builder with Joomla 4 and PHP 8.  They have yet to respond but I am wondering if there is any possibility that Akeeba tools might be causing a problem due to being installed but not set up.  I would simply remove Akeeba tools for now just to simplify things but I don't want to cause any additional issues.  Can you confirm that my Akeeba installations which are working properly under PHP 7.4 should not be involved with any issues associated with an upgrade to PHP 8?  If so the problem must be entirely with Joomshaper software as I have done very little other than to create a couple of articles and menu items on the site.

Thanks,

Dick Chick

Akeeba Staff

Hello,

Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup are working fine with PHP 8. If you want to be 110% sure, you can uninstall Admin Tools (since you did not perform any configuration) and install Joomla default .htaccess file.

If you still have issues, those are not related to Admin Tools since it's not installed in your site.
