Attempting to transfer a network of Wordpress blogs from Fatcow hosting (domain rawbits.com) to Greengeeks hosting (domain rawbits.org). FTP information is complete and correct (I think). I can connect using Progress WS_FTP Professional. However, the site transfer wizard reports " Could not connect to the remote FTP server. "

Hello,

usually when this happens it's because the connection between your server and the remote one is blocked by your host. Please try to switch the Use Passive mode options.

If it still doesn't work, since this is just a one time operation, our suggestion is to try to use SFTP (if available) or use the manual transfer (download, upload to the new server, run kickstart). That's because the connection is blocked by your host and asking them to update their firewall rules takes a lot of time and it's not guaranteed to be successful. It's simply more time efficient to do it manually instead of waiting for them to update their rules.

Thanks for this. I ended up using Kickstarter and manually uploading my backup. Worked perfectly.
