This was fixed in Akeeba Backup 10.1.0 which was released in October 2025 – seven months ago.

Is installing the current version of Akeeba Backup and taking a new backup an option? If not, there is a workaround, but it's more involved.

Again, this bug that was present in Akeeba Backup 10.0.3 (there is no such thing as 10.0.0.3) was fixed in version 10.1.0 which was released seven months ago in October 2025. It doesn't matter if it was the Core or Pro version. It doesn't matter which version you are using now. The installed was placed in the backup archive by the old version that had a bug.

Is installing the current version of Akeeba Backup and taking a new backup an option? If not, there is a workaround, but it's more involved. I need you to answer that question so I can help you.

First make sure that you have extracted your backup archive. Do not start the restoration yet. Do NOT remove the installation directory yet.

Download the BRS dev release from https://www.akeeba.com/download/brs-dev/10-3-4-dev202605051821-revf252930-1.html. You want the "
BRS for Joomla!® sites" (brs-joomla-10.3.4.zip).

Extract it and upload the files to your site. It will overwrite some of the files in the installation directory.

Now access the /installation/index.php URL on your site to complete the restoration.
