When using the current (renamed) Kickstart to restore a site auter unpacking the files the interfce changed to french for unknown reasons, tested on several hosts. Not impossible to manage but english was a little bit easier to fill in the SQL infos and settings

It respects your browser's language settings. Do you have French ordered before English in your browser settings?

No, my prefered languages are german (generic), german (de) and several english variants, followed by a lot of different others, chinese, russian etc, french is listed as well but on position 10+ --- i'll remove all non-germna/english languages from the list and check again

Browser is current Edge, OS is Win11 (set to german and option to switch to english, no other languages installed)

i use kickstart quiet a lot, i first noticed the french rebuilt screens approx ~2 months ago, probably with a fresh download of the latest kickstart. its not a big issue but i was jus curious why this happens.

best regards

Kickstart is NOT a restoration script

Kickstart is the backup archive extraction tool. It only extracts the backup archive. It has nothing to do with the database restoration and the site reconfiguration. That is handled by BRS, the restoration script which was included in your backup archive at backup time.

This information is printed on your screen every time you run Kickstart, explained in our video tutorials, and included in several documentation pages.

It would actually help to tell me what is the content of the Accept-Language HTTP header your browser sends. You can find that by opening dev tools on your browser, reloading the page, clicking on the Network tab, then click on the entry for the page that loaded (should be at the top), and look at the Request information. It should have the Accept-Language header stated there.

accept-language
de,de-DE;q=0.9,en;q=0.8,en-GB;q=0.7,en-US;q=0.6

... though i already deleted all other languages including french but de/en from my egde browser language favorites settings already... might be a bug in edge?

No, there was an inversion in the logic for language parsing. It was serving the least preferred language instead of the most preferred one. I have fixed it, but it will only be applied to new backups taken after I release version 10.3.7. For now, please use a temporary browser (e.g. Chromium) with only one language set up.

I see, i believe french was in fact the last language on my list in Edge. i understand the language setting is applied to the backup file (taken from browser prefs) at the time of the backup, not on restore.
for the time being i can work with french - thanks god my last language in edge wasn't korean or traditional chinese ;-)
thanks for the fast support!
