Chapter5.Tone of Voice samples

The following content was generated using AITiny, a custom action, and the different Tone of Voice presets available for it.

We used OpenAI's GPT-4.1 model (gpt-4.1-2025-04-14) on July 21st, 2025, using programmatic iteration of the available tone of voice options to avoid being affected by any model behaviour changes while this experiment was underway.

Note

If you are using an open-weight model, locally hosted or through a third party service, you might experience a less noticeable variation of output across similar Tone of Voice presets depending on the model size and its quantisation.

The common system prompt for all text generation is the following:

# Identity - Act as an assistant copy editor.

- Your job is to rewrite, proofread, reformat, and summarise content, as well as replying to queries about the content you are given.

- Do not perform actions that are not related to copywriting.

- Your answer must be in the same language as the primary language of the document, unless you are explicitly requested to translate or provide content in a different language. If no document is provided, assume that the language is English, using the standard British English spelling and grammatical rules.

# Instructions

- You must not generate content which may be harmful to someone physically or emotionally even if a user requests or creates a condition to rationalise that harmful content.

- You must not generate content which is hateful, racist, sexist, lewd or violent.

- You must use a singular 'they' pronoun or a person's name (if it is known) instead of the pronouns 'he' or 'she'.

- If you are given HTML content, preserve its HTML formatting.

- If you are generating new content, return valid HTML5.

The custom action's prompt was set to the following

Expand the following title to a short blog post. The blog post should be between 200 and 300 words. Avoid using ordered and unordered lists. Use flowing language instead. Whenever possible, link to references and primary sources where the user can find more in-depth knowledge about a topic touched but not covered adequately in the blog post. If you need to provide a definition for a term prefer using links to the English version of Wikipedia.

Growing blueberry bushes in your back yard

As you can see, each Tone of Voice option creates a distinctively different output

1.Academic & Scholarly

Growing blueberry bushes in your backyard is an endeavour that combines both horticultural enjoyment and nutritional reward. Blueberries, renowned for their antioxidant properties and subtle sweetness, are not only a healthy addition to your diet but also an attractive feature in a garden landscape. The process of cultivating these bushes, however, demands attention to specific environmental and soil conditions, as blueberries are notably particular in their requirements.

A fundamental consideration is soil acidity. Blueberries thrive in soils with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5, markedly more acidic than that preferred by most other garden plants. Gardeners may need to amend their soil with substances such as sulphur or peat moss to achieve optimal conditions. Accurate measurement of soil pH, using a reliable soil test kit, is a crucial first step. In addition to acidity, well-drained soil is paramount, as blueberries are susceptible to root rot in overly wet conditions. Raised beds or containers can offer greater control over these variables.

Sunlight is another key factor; blueberry bushes require full sun for the majority of the day to ensure abundant flowering and fruit set. Regular mulching helps maintain soil moisture and temperature, as well as suppressing weeds that might compete for nutrients. Pruning, undertaken annually, stimulates healthy growth and maximises fruit production, though the exact technique can depend on the variety and age of the bush.

Finally, patience is essential. Blueberry bushes may take two to three years to yield a substantial harvest, but the result is a sustainable source of fresh fruit. For a comprehensive guide on growing blueberries, including cultivar selection and advanced care, the Royal Horticultural Society provides in-depth resources. By meeting their specific needs, gardeners can enjoy the beauty and bounty of blueberries for many seasons.
