Joomla! and PHP versions supported by our software

Now that Joomla! and PHP have timed releases and a defined support policy, we can in turn clarify when and for how long we support each Joomla! and PHP version.

TL;DR: Joomla! short term support versions are fully supported for 8 months. Joomla! long term support versions are fully supported for one year, get another year of priority security updates, and limited support after that. Joomla! 3.10 get priority security updates to February 2025 (when Joomla! 3 eLTS expires), and limited support after that. PHP versions are supported within one month of their release and up to at least 6 months after they become End of Life.

Google Drive integration changes

The integration between Google Drive and our backup software (Akeeba Backup for Joomla!, Akeeba Backup for WordPress, and Akeeba Solo) is undergoing some changes necessitated by policy updates on Google's side.

If you are using a personal Drive you will experience no change. If you are using a shared drive you will have to upgrade to our new releases, create a (free of charge) Google Drive API application, and re-authenticate your backup software against your own API application.

Information on failure to follow our instructions about Akeeba Backup for WordPress 8.1.0

This is further information to Akeeba Backup for WordPress 8.1.0 and how failing to follow our instructions will lead to failure, as already discussed. Moreover, we would like to explicitly state that despite mySites.guru proclaiming that the JSON API in Akeeba Backup for WordPress 8.1.0 is broken they are merely wrong, as they usually are every single time they proclaim such a thing.

Introducing Akeeba Panopticon: self-hosted site monitoring

We are stoked to introduce the latest addition to our software lineup: Akeeba Panopticon, our self-hosted, free-of-charge site monitoring software for Joomla!™ sites!

Akeeba Panopticon can run on any commercial hosting provider which meets the following modest requirements:

  • PHP 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3; PHP 8.2 recommended.
  • MySQL 5.7.9 or later, or MariaDB 10.3 or later; MySQL 8.0 recommended.
  • Able to run CRON jobs, either command-line (preferred) or URLs with a frequency of once every minute.

Panopticon can monitor Joomla! 3, Joomla! 4, and Joomla! 5 sites running on PHP 7.2 or later.

Joomla! versions 3.9, 3.10, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, and 5.0 are currently supported.
